When our friends at WEI needed new custom booths for their makerspace, we were inspired to explore old and new ways of working with wood. The curved frames of the canopies are cut with our CNC and woven with strips of spruce inspired by local basket-making traditions.
The basket-inspired woven structures create two cozy covered workspaces. The fully enclosed booth offers students a focus zone on the inside, with display shelves, work surfaces, and a home for Ted the snake on the outside. Details like integrated lighting, outlets, and storage level-up the practicality. Both booths help to define zones within the makerspace while keeping it open and visually connected.
