Project Description

The Cogswell Park project shows how a simple element of urban design can hold many stories and create deep impact when it's built with the community. The project emerged from the need for accessibility in a small park at the intersection of the Quinpool business zone and the neighbouring residential area. The design was informed by engagement with local residents, including ongoing involvement and contributions from the folks living in the park at that time.

The site-responsive design echoes an existing desire path and follows the slope of the land to gently connect Windsor Street with Parker Street. This boardwalk was imagined as more than just path. A wooden deck with benches along its edge offers a smooth surface for walking or rolling with comfortable places to stop, rest, and enjoy the park. With power provided it adds lighting and the opportunity to hit community events.
