Project Description

The Wije’winen Clinic Mural Project is a testament to community, culture, and healing, created in collaboration with Indigenous artists and community members. The project consists of nine murals on plywood: seven representing the Seven Grandfather Teachings, one honoring Every Child Matters, and one recognizing Missing and Murdered Indigenous Men. The project invited artists to express cultural truths through storytelling and visual art. Each mural was designed and painted through a series of collaborative workshops, where artists and participants came together to share, reflect, and create in a supportive environment. Additional smaller paintings offered opportunities for broader community involvement, ensuring the space reflects a collective voice. Now installed, the murals bring warmth, stories, and Indigenous values into the heart of the Wije’winen Health Clinic to greet + comfort folks seeking culturally grounded healthcare.
