Project Description

If you've ever seen a colourful wooden bench pop up on Agricola Street, there is a great change that OSO was behind it! Since 2020, OSO has been leading bench-building workshops during Open Streets Sundays in partnership with the North End Business Association. The benches are designed to be modular + customizable, use a single dimension of lumber with simple + minimal cuts, and teach basic building skills like how to use a drill.

Open Streets is a celebration of streets as lively + vibrant public spaces when we reimagine them without cars. On Open Street Sundays, Agricola street is closed to vehicle traffic to welcome vendors, makers, musicians, and folks from the neighbourhood to enjoy activities and experiences out in the street. Together, we're filling the North End with benches made by and for community members to make the street more pedestrian friendly.
