Project Description

Our Stories Mural consists of 19 circular murals painted at the Mi’kmaw Native Friendship Centre and installed on the Barrington Street wall of the Scotia Square building. The murals convey stories from Indigenous culture and history through the lens of local Indigenous youth and artists. Positioned on one of Halifax’s busiest transit corridors, the murals are highly visible to hundreds of people daily, bringing joy, colour, and story to an otherwise dull concrete wall. This project fosters collective awareness that we live in Mi’kma’ki and invites viewers to reflect, learn, and celebrate the Urban Indigenous community.
