Project Description

The Millbrook First Nation Comprehensive Community Plan (CCP) is a product of collaboration and collective visioning, reflecting the voices and aspirations of community members across all Millbrook communities. The plan reflects on Millbrook’s past, assesses its present, and charts a path forward, grounded in shared values. It highlights the extraordinary resources, rich history, powerful stories, economic resilience, and vibrant culture of Millbrook, while also acknowledging the unique opportunities and challenges that come with its topography, dispersed population, and proximity to urban centers.

At the heart of the plan is a commitment to strengthening the community’s connection to the land, water, culture, and each other. Key priorities include enhancing housing and neighborhoods, improving transportation and connections, expanding community gathering spaces, and fostering a stronger sense of cultural identity. The voices of Elders and Youth were particularly emphasized and have shaped every aspect of the plan, ensuring it addresses the diverse needs of all. The process involved community feasts, shared meals, large and small meetings, monthly Elders’ gatherings and youth sessions, a large community visioning art project, and a youth-focused design-build project.

This plan serves as a roadmap to a stronger, more connected Millbroo. It is designed to inspire all members to envision and build a future for Millbrook First Nation that will benefit generations to come. The CCP will stand as a testament to the resilience, strength, and potential of Millbrook First Nation, and as a call to action to create a community where everyone can thrive.
